If I was stuck on a deserted island and had to choose two makeup items to bring with me,  they would 100% be my foundation and mascara.

Have you ever stayed at a friend's house and had to use their makeup?? 99% of the time I HATE having to use other people's makeup because I am such a person of routine and have become very attached to my makeup routine and preferred products.

Over the years I have tried different foundation- liquid vs powder, heavy versus light and these are my top 5! I prefer to use both liquid and powder. I think the powder sets the liquid for a polished look.

1. Mac Cosmetics Studio Fix Fluid: This is my HOLY GRAIL liquid foundation. I love the coverage and the overall color match with my skin tone. I apply it with THIS brush. I use NC 25 and then I also use their Pro Longwear Concealer in one shade down (NC 20) for under my eyes, brow sculpting, and down the bridge of my nose.
2. Bare Minerals Original Foundation: I apply this powder foundation after the Mac Studio Fix. I use THIS brush  and the color I have used since I was sixteen is Medium Beige (NC20). This sets the foundation and leaves a nice dewy look, I'm obsessed.

1. Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation: I started using this recently after seeing Nikki Tutorials post about it multiple times. She always looks flawless and this is her go-to foundation. I apply it directly to my face and then blend it with the same mac brush above. I love the color 127=335 "Dark Sand". The only thing I don't like about this foundation is that it always feels a little wet on my skin, if that makes any sense?
2. Mac Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation: I like to apply this pressed powder foundation after using the HD stick. It gives me more of a matte finish and once again sets the foundation. I apply it with THIS foundation brush and the color I prefer is NC25.

1. Giorgio Armani Maestro: If you are looking for a lighter coverage "no makeup" feel, this is the foundation for you! I love the color 5.25 which is for medium skin tones and has a golden undertone. I apply with THIS foundation brush and do not put a second foundation over it. What I love most about this liquid foundation is that it has a very silky texture to it.

2. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder: This stuff is like powdered GOLD for your face. Hands down a staple beauty item. I use THIS Bobbi Brown full coverage brush to apply it all over my face to create a flawless finish.

Coming next: A post on my full daily makeup routine!

Better late than never on this post from our Valentine's Day date night. SORRY for the delay!

We spent the afternoon hiking are favorite spot, the dish, in Palo Alto (right above Stanford). After working up an appetite we headed home to get ready for our big night out on the town aka dinner.

Jason took me out to Sundance Steakhouse in Palo Alto and it was exactly how I wanted to spend our evening. Sundance has this Madmen vibe to it... dim lighting, fine wines and THE best prime rib in town. Seriously hands down, the best. It was one of those meals that I did not want to end. Usually I'm wanting the service to be quick, but not here. I was ready to setup shop in the dining room and turn it into my own foie. Kidding kidding, but how amazing would that be?

I picked this sweater up at Nordies in the sale section. I love the length and color, and it is super light weight. This is perfect for these weird transitional weather months we have ahead. I swear as soon as I start packing up my winter clothes it starts to rain... like torrential downpour.

Also, I forgot about how much I love this bright lipstick "Girl About Town" by Mac. It is such a flirty pink color and has a very creamy texture. Must-have!

Hope everyone had a great day with their honey and/or galentines. <3

SWEATER: Target (old) Similar HERE | DENIM: TopShop | CAMI: Express | SHOES: Dolce Vita | CROSSBODY BAG: Rebecca Minkoff | NECKLACE: Stella & Dot  | LIPS: Gerard Cosmetics (Serenity)

Happy Wednesday! We are half way through the week and hopefully most of you will be celebrating a three day weekend (President's Day). Valentine's Day is also fast approaching, which means romance, breakfast in bed, date night, food, wine, roses... You get the picture.

With the three day weekend you might even be able to squeeze in two date nights if you are feeling energetic. Or how about one date night out and one night at home but DRESS UP. I think sometimes it is fun to look fab at home instead of the mundane jammies and bun on top of the head look (sorry Jason).

Picture it- champagne, home cooked meal and candle light. Dreamy right?

Like most women, I love wearing all black. These TopShop jeans are my favorite black skinnies. They are so stretchy and are slightly high waisted.

Another fave of mine is the barcelona cami from Express. Speaking of Express, why is it that they make the best basics EVER and I feel like I need to own everything in about 16 colors AKA the portifino, barcelona, and the silky v-neck roll leave blouse. It's a serious problem...

Tell me about your favorite at home date night experience! xx

Morning All! We took these pictures on the way home from Tahoe, while being STUCK in a snow storm AKA a blizzard. The main highway out of town was absolutely crazy on the way back, so we decided to take the road less traveled. It was desolate and scary and I felt like we were the last people on the planet in the middle of nowhere with no cell service (LOL). Once I got over my fear of being trapped on the mountain, I got out and had a little fun in the snow to lighten the mood. We finally made it out of the snow (four hours later)!

I recently got this North Face jacket and it is the  The inside is super warm and fuzzy and the outside is waterproof. I love that it is fitted and light weight, yet it kept me dry in the snow.

Has anyone been snowboarding or skiing lately? Would love to hear about your adventures!

Over the weekend, Jason and I went to visit my home away from home, South Lake Tahoe! I often refer to it as my second home because my mom, grandparents and sister are all born and raised there. I have been visiting since as long as I can remember and I never get sick of this place!

We got so lucky because there was finally snow! The last few winter's have been bleak, so I was relieved when we woke up to fresh powder Saturday morning (aka a blizzard). Since the weather was absolutely perfect for snowboarding, we headed up to Sierra with my sister and niece for a day on the slopes. My niece, Memphis, is about to be a better boarder than me and she is only seven! Watch out X Games, I think we have a new competitor in the making.

Being from a non snow area, it was an excuse for me to stock up on some warmer clothing! The North Face vest is my all time favorite. It is so warm without being too bulky. I also loved using my Hunter rain boots in the snow. They were perfect because of the waterproofing, but extremely cold. I suggest doubling up on wool socks to keep your feet warm!

All of my posts this week will be from our weekend in Tahoe, so stay tuned for more fun winter looks.
