Today, I wanted to share one of my favorite DIY projects- the beloved IKEA gold coffee table! It is honestly one of my favorite additions to any living room. The gold and marble details scream CHIC, while still having an affordable price point.

Before I get started, I can't take the credit for this project. My good friend Britta just moved to Montana, and the first thing she did to personalize her new home was getting her DIYing on. Her beau and her spent a weekend transforming their IKEA coffee table. She agreed to share her step-by-step guide on how to recreate this beauty for your own home!

1. Sand down the entire white coffee table and wipe down with a damp microfiber cloth. Let dry.
2. Apply a spray primer made for metal.
3. Apply several THIN coats of gold spray paint. Allowing 4 hours between coats.
*Note if there are any runs or bubbles, don't panic! With a fine grit sand paper, sand them out and wipe clean and apply one final coat
4. Apply two coats of sealant to lock in the gold paint (Krylon Clear Glaze).
5. Once paint is completely dry, apply paper over the bottom glass surface of the table and cut excess off with a dull putty knife.
5. Decorate your new table with my favorite coffee table essentials!

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you recreate this at home!

Before I even get started with today's post, I wanted to apologize for being MIA this past week. I bought a new car on Sunday evening, started a three day juice cleanse on Tuesday and have been VERY distracted by The Bachelor and American Idol. None of these are valid excuses I know... well maybe American Idol (auditions are my all time FAVORITE part of the entire show)!

In all seriousness, when I started this blog 6 months ago, I had no idea how much time it was going to consume. I had always thought blogging was a piece of cake and from an outside perspective seemed relatively easy. Let me assure you, I was completely wrong. I have nothing but the utmost respect for all of the successful bloggers who have turned their blogging dreams into a full time career. It is competitive, time consuming, draining and fun all at the same time. Having said that, I am balancing a full time career along with my blog. I am passionate about my full time job and absolutely love what I do. This leaves the only time to blog during weeknights and weekends. So I sincerely apologize for the lack of content lately, just trying to find out how to manage my time and add in more hours to the day!

I now understand why the professionals have said that you have to really love what you do when it comes to  blogging. It really takes a lot of hard work to become a successful blogger, and your heart and soul truly have to be in it for the long haul. Like anything in life, success does not come over night. I am sharing this with you all today to remind you to never lose sight of your dreams. Set goals for yourself weekly and always try to be the best version of you in all aspects of your life. <3

Enough with all of the sappy stuff above, let's get down to business! Valentine's Day is quickly approaching... do you have plans yet, more importantly, a date night outfit? Have no fears, I have got you covered from head to toe! Enjoy my outfit inspo below and PS, I have the Tom Ford Noir perfume and it is absolutely tantalizing!

Jason and I just made reservations for our favorite Steak House in Palo Alto, Sundance. Since it is on a Sunday this year we made early reservations for 5:00 so that we could get home at a decent hour for work the next day. I'm looking forward to a special night with my boo. How about the rest of you? Share your romantic date nights with me! Single? That's okay too, this get-up will solve that problem REAL quick.

Today is the first work day of the new year and I'm recharged and feeling full of energy. I'm excited to be back at the office, and to rejoin the daily bootcamp class that is offered at the gym at work. I need to redeem myself for my lack of attendance last year. Oops!

Over the weekend, Jason and I decided to take a little trip to Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, California. This place was breathtaking! It was a beautiful Japanese garden on a 10 acre property. We walked around and enjoyed all of the scenery (my favorite part was the koi pond). It is always fun to play tourists in the Bay Area. I swear we never run out of things to do here.

I would love to hear more tips on places to go/things to do in San Francisco, Los Gatos, San Jose etc! Yelp can only get us so far... Please share any suggestions you may have. Thanks!

Cheers to 2016! The last year has been filled with some huge life events! My best friend, Katie, got married, Jason and I moved in together, and Jason accepted a great position at PG&E! We have been blessed with some very exciting moments last year and I can't wait to see what 2016 will unveil.

May your New Year resolutions be met with great success. Mine will consist of being the best person I can be mentally, physically, and spiritually. What's yours?!
