HOW TO MAKE FRENCH PRESS COFFEE

Let's face it, life is too short for bad coffee. For those of you that don't know, I am a shameless coffee addict. I just don't know what I would do without my perfect cup of joe in my daily routine. It is what I NEED on those groggy Monday mornings and what I look forward to on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Anyone who loves coffee as much as I do knows there are about a million and one ways to make a simple cup. Jason makes fun of me because I have a Nespresso, Keurig, AND a French Press. Basically he thinks I'm crazy, but they are all great for different reasons and French Press coffee has got to be my all time favorite. It can be a bit daunting though and if you make it wrong, you will be left VERY disappointed. Having said that, today I wanted to share the RIGHT way to use a French Press so that your coffee will turn out perfect every time.

HOW TO MAKE COFFEE WITH A FRENCH PRESS:

Ingredients/Materials Needed:

STEP 1: Remove lid on French Press and add course ground good coffee. You will need 2 over filled tablespoons for every 8 ounces of water added. The standard French Press is 32 ounces, so in that case add about 6-7 tbs.

STEP 2: Boil water in a teakettle on the stove. Once the water begins to boil, remove it and test the temperature. The perfect temperature for the water should be around 200 degrees.

STEP 3: Add just enough water to cover the coffee grounds and let sit for 30 seconds

STEP 4: Add the rest of the water to the French Press (give it a quick stir to incorporate the grounds) and set your timer for 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

STEP 5: Once the timer goes off, it is time to push down the plunger of the coffee. This should go down rather easily; if it is really hard then you used the wrong type of coffee grounds. -__-

STEP 6: Pour all of the hot coffee into a coffee decanter. This will allow the coffee to keep its perfect taste without it getting bitter.

STEP 7: Pour into your favorite coffee mug with cream and sugar and ENJOY!

Cheers!
